PanicButton: Quickly Hide Chrome Tabs & Restore Them Later With A Password

nternet users are entitled to their privacy and should be able to hide from others what websites they are viewing. But sometimes hiding this information becomes difficult because someone can simply walk to your desk and have a look at your computer screen. In such a situation either you can close the browser quickly and lose all open webpages or you can use a tool called PanicButton.
hide chrome tabs
PanicButton is a browser extension for Google Chrome. The extension adds a new button to the browser’s address bar and offers you the option to set a hotkey for usage. Using the hotkey, you can quickly hide all open tabs and store their URLs in the extension. You can specify which page is loaded after the tabs are quickly hidden. The number on the extension’s icon indicates how many tabs have been hidden.
By clicking on the icon you can easily restore your tabs. Optionally you can set a password that is required before tabs are restored.

Always Clear Download: Clear Completed Downloads Automatically [Chrome]

Google Chrome’s download bar hangs around until a user manually closes it or closes the browser altogether. For some users, this comes in handy because it allows them to open downloads quickly without having to go to the downloads page in Chrome or open the folder where their downloads go when finished. For some it is an annoyance, and that is where Always Clear Downloads for Chrome comes in handy.
This simple extension clears completed downloads every five seconds. This gives you a little time to launch the file when it finishes and then have the downloads bar at the bottom of the screen go away. If you are the kind of user who opens files later, or opens them quickly and then does not need to come back to them again, this extension should come in handy. It does not delete the files downloaded or clear active downloads. It only parses inactive downloads from the list without touching the files.

Features:
  • Automatically clear complete downloads from Google Chrome.
  • Clears downloads every five seconds.
  • Gives you enough time to open completed downloads before removing them.
  • Does not touch active downloads or delete downloaded files.

Aggressive Maneuvers for Autonomous Quadrotor Flight

The RC quadrocopter, also called the quadricopter, quad rotor RC helicopter, or multi-rotor is the latest development in radio controlled vertical lift platforms that are able to take off vertically, hover, and fly in all directions. As the name suggests, there are 4 propellers arranged in a cross type configuration.

There is no single large collective pitch rotor or tail rotor that we are all used to seeing on a conventional RC helicopter. These propellers are fixed pitch, two will spin clockwise and the other two will spin counter clockwise. By precisely and accurately spinning these four propellers at different speeds, all the common directional movements of a standard helicopter are attainable - Hover, forward/backward movement, left/right movement, and yaw (turn rate) movement.

There are certainly other incarnations of the quadrotor design using as little as 3 propellers arranged in a triangle configuration up to six arranged in a hexagonal configuration and even eight (Octocopters); but for ease of explanation, I will stick with the quad variety as it is the most common and if you do end up getting this type of RC helicopter, most likely what you will be starting out with.

 How Do They Work?

The reason RC quadrocopters are fairly new on the scene is the complex and rather heavy computing/processing power required to accurately control these 4 propellers to not only move the heli about, but to keep it stable. Inherent stability as I mentioned is very good, but directional control stability was the single largest hurdle that had to be overcome and only because of today’s solid state gyro and accelerometer technology, efficient and fast responding brushless motors, coupled with small micro processors to deal with the hundreds of calculations and control commands every second, can these things fly at all. RC quadrocopters are not that performance minded and certainly are not capable of any fancy aerobatics mostly due to the very taxing computing power to just keep them airborne and the fact they use fixed pitch propellers making sustained inverted flight impossible. Times are changing however as lighter and more efficient processing power and electronic sensors become available making some fairly aggressive 3D flight possible and accurate – have a look at this video and you’ll see what I mean.

HTTPS / SSL – WHAT IS IT ? WHY IT’S SO IMPORTANT ?

internet_security_https_sslRecently Facebook introduced SSL i.e. HTTPS support. Many people still don’t have any idea about what exactly is SSL or HTTPS. The HTTPS or SSL revolves around something knows as SSL certificates. Whether you realize it or not, SSL certificates are something which are more than likely to be encountered by internet users on a regular basis. Yet, for many people, it is not a term with which they are familiar.
SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. It functions, basically, as an internet security measure, which are put in place in order to prove the identity of almost any website which you might choose to visit.
A number of websites might also require data to be exchanged between your internet browser and the site itself. This is particularly true of online shopping sites, when you may need to enter information such as your bank details, but can also apply to passwords and addresses. In such cases, the SSL certificate is proof that the information which you supply cannot be intercepted by a third party, who might otherwise tap into this connection.
It is usually easy to spot which sites have an SSL certificate, as they will show ‘https://’ at the beginning of their URL address, ie the usual http with the addition of an ‘s’ to prove that it is secure. Another way to identify whether or not a website has a secure connection is through the small padlock image which will usually appear in the search bar of the web browser. This is most often found on transaction pages, after you have indicated that you wish to make a purchase. You should also be able to click on the padlock itself, which will enable you to view the full SSL certificate details.
For those hosting a website, the advantage of having an SSL certificate is that your customers will be more confident when visiting your webpages and using your services. If your business site is primarily used as a platform for e-commerce, then such authentication can prove essential in generating the desired profits. If your web page is deemed secure and trustworthy by those who visit it, it is more likely to gain popularity.
Internet security is often a priority for those who carry out online transactions, and so SSL certificates can prove to be an essential investment for many businesses and organization. They work by linking a cryptographic key to details such as a particular domain name, location and business contact details. Once such authentication has been established, the connection between the web server and the internet browser is secure, and not at risk from third party infiltration.

Rail Radar: Track trains through Google's interactive map

As one of the most passenger friendly moves, now locating different trains position on real time will be much easier and passengers will be able to get there exact time also.

Railways have launched online application Rail Radar, an interactive map on Google enabling passengers to track train movements across the country.

Travellers can access this facility over their mobiles and laptops also. Application has been developed by a Railway PSU Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) with RaviYatri a live tracker of all passenger trains traffic.

With this the passengers will be able to get over 6,500 trains on a Google map. It has used number of colors to highlight its contents. While the blue will be highlighting the trains running on time, the red will indicate the delayed or running behind schedule trains.

Google launches free SMS service on Gmail for India

Google has extended its free SMS chat service to India, whereby users can send text messages to mobile phones via Gmail Chat.
"You can send SMS messages to your contacts' mobile phones using Gmail Chat ... Google does not charge for using this service," according to information available with Google's website.
The SMS service is available in India and 51 other countries in Asia, Africa and North America.
The feature was activated for Indian users on October 10 and is available for regular Gmail users as well as those on Google Apps.
As per Google's website, this feature is available on all the mobile operators in the country.
The company said in order to send an SMS, users would have to add phone number to their contact list.
Responses to the SMSs would appear as replies in Gmail Chat and conversations will be stored in users' Chat history, like regular chats.
Google initially provides free SMS credit of 50 messages for each user. For every message sent, users' credit woud decrease by one. However, this credit would increase by five every time a user responds to the text message by sending a return message.
In case, the SMS credit limit slashes down to zero, one credit would increase automatically after 24 hours.
Google said users can also 'buy' SMS credit in case of shortage by sending a text message to their own phone and then by replying to that message.
The internet firm has also provided the facilities for those users do not wish to receive any messages on SMS from any Gmail user.
